Job Shadow Report
|
My first job shadow took place at the Caldwell Elementary School. I went to the third grade room and shadowed Kristan Wylie the 3rd grade teacher. While I was there I helped teach the students, read to them, and helped them do their classwork. I learned about the standards the students need to be taught. To become the third grade teacher she acquired a bachelor's degree, and was licensed to be a teacher. I was told to make myself be known. Get my name out there, try job shadowing and offering my time to others. I expected it to be a lot harder to teach, but after this job shadow teaching doesn’t seem as hard. Becoming a teacher is something I would like to become. My second job shadow took place at the Wellington High School. I shadowed Holly Rausch, an english teacher, she teaches english 12 and multiple college classes. While I was there I watched her teach multiple classes, it was more of a watch from the side shadow and didn’t get as much hands on experience. To be a high school teacher I will need a bachelor's degree, a teacher's license, and some sort of training or classes in that subject. Compared to the other job shadow I did, I enjoyed the feel of the job shadow at the high school more than I did with the younger children. Becoming a highschool teacher is definitely a choice in life for me and I would be happy with my job even if it isn't the highest paying job out there. |
