At the blood drive, we helped set everything up. There were multiple jobs for people. There were escorts, canteen, and front desk. I helped with the canteen, putting up signs, and set up chairs. Before the blood drive started I helped prepare the sandwiches, put the drinks in the fridge, and set out snacks on the tables. I would be a waiter and go out and ask the blood donors what they would want to eat or drink and deliver it to them. What I learned was that there are lots of people out there who are willing to donate their blood to the not so lucky few. I enjoyed getting to see that there are people out there doing this for others. After I worked the blood drive it has given me the incentive to donate in the future or give my time to help volunteer.

In this activity, we helped clean up around main street. First we started off at the gazebo. We cleaned it up starting with pulling out weeds between all the plants and rocks. After that we swept it all up into bags to be thrown away. Then we planted mulch in with the plants. After the gazebo we moved on to street corners to replace mulch and pull weeds.

I did two soccer activities, the first one I did was help coach the little kids. Katie Jo and Delaney Mayo asked me if I wanted to help them coach the kids. What I did was help the kids get through the warm up and teach them soccer drills. The other activity I did was help spray painting the soccer field lines. I pushed the sprayer and also helped with measuring the distance between lines. Helping out the kids was the most enjoyable part of this activity, getting to see how excited they were made this project more fun. With this experience I now know how to deal with children better.

Randy Sawyer asked me if I would like to help sell t-shirts at the wellington golf course, it was a special event for the Scott Rice Memorial Golf Tournament. While there, we set up the t-shirt presser right outside the main building. Me and Tori took turns pressing the designs on the shirt and sold lots to willing people. About halfway through a storm decided to come by forcing people to come to the main building, allowing us to get more sales with having a lot of people around stuck there. I’ve never golfed before so it was a fun experience to see how the tournaments turned out. It showed me how taking advantage of something to get more sells in can be exciting.

Lucy Schneider came to me and asked me whether I wanted to help volunteer for the blood drive or not. When we first got there we showed up 2 hours earlier and started setting up the tables and chairs and getting the foods in the fridge. After that we left to go eat lunch and came back afterwards. Once we got back I was put in charge of making the food and delivering it out to the donors

I needed just a couple hours left and that’s when I overheard that Tim Henry was in need of some help to organize the prop room on the 3rd floor of the old highschool. I reached out to him and he agreed to letting me help out. While up there, there was much to do. We moved all of the computers, filing cabinets, boards, and chairs all to one side of the room. It was a very hot afternoon, especially with no AC in the old highschool. Once there was enough room we started organizing the props and clothing. We moved the clothing racks together on one side while pushing the props up against the other wall. From doing all this I realized how much our school doesn’t pay attention to the old high school, there are lots of stuff needing to be cleaned up or thrown away. It should show others that we need to stay more organized and be clean about our surroundings.
